President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, 20 February, 2020.
This will be his fourth SoNA to Ghanaians since he assumed office in 2017.
This was announced in Parliament on 28 January 2020 by the Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
He explained that the President’s address is in line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which requires him to deliver a message on the state of the nation at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before the house is dissolved.
The President is expected to talk about the successes his government has chalked over the years in education, agriculture, healthcare delivery, security, economy, sanitation and others.
The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, advised Members of Parliament to comport themselves when the President visits the House.

“The House is privileged to host the President for the state of the nation address as required under the Constitution.
“I congratulate members on the decency extended to the first gentleman on his last visit to the House and I respectfully request members not to depart from our new understanding to consolidate the good repute for the House,” he said.
